The City of Peachtree Corners used it’s annual Festival, the ‘Peachtree Corners Festival’, to announce and education the public on the launch of it’s Mobile App. Peachtree Corners’ City Council approved a 311 mobile and web application, naming it Peachtree Corners Fix-It.
The app allows citizens to easily report non-emergency civic issues such as public works, environmental hazards, and quality of life. The user can upload a photo or video of concern and mark the geographic location on the map, which is then directed towards the City Hall for quick and systematic resolution.
Using the 311 mobile and web app allows the Peachtree Corners government to use technology to save both time and money, whilst improving accountability. The service requests are sent directly to the correct departments and individuals responsible for resolving the issues, rather than being lined up in a queue for further examination. So if the report is regarding potholes, it will go directly to the public works department. Additionally, the application verifies that the issues being reporting are within city boundaries. If a service request sent lies outside the boundaries, GPS tracking services from the device the sender is using will identify the location of the issue being reported and notify the user.
Ever since the implementation of Peachtree Corners Fix-It, the mobile reporting platform has been improving how the city delivers services to its neighborhoods. This application is available for free download in most smartphone platforms and is also available on the City of Peachtree Corners website.
